Oakland Park Main Street has commissioned a 24’ X 145’ mural in honor of Jaco Pastorius. known to the world simply as Jaco, the world’s greatest bass player. This mural will cover the south and east walls of the new community center in the Jaco Pastorius Park in downtown Oakland Park, Florida.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
BILL SAVARESE

After completing his BFA at the University of Denver and the Danish International University, Bill Savarese remained in Denmark and worked in animated film for 10 years. He supplemented this work with free-lance illustration and graphic projects. After winning a national competition in 1989 to paint his first large mural (124'X25'), he went on to complete several large exterior murals and co-founded 'Wall Street Art', a group of artists which were ultimately funded by the European Union to beautify Copenhagen in 1996. Together with the Storm P. Museum, Bill was commissioned to reproduce 2 small watercolors by the famous artist on the exterior of two 5 story buildings.

In 1996, Bill and his wife and two children moved to Ft Lauderdale. He has continued doing residential and commercial murals. His client list includes the Fountainebleau Resort, American Diving Headquarters, Landmark Condominiums just to name a few.
